Count ‘Em, Even If They Aren’t There

The 2010 Census is upon us, and the Department of Commerce has assured us that the census count will be fair and unpoliticized, and many cite as proof the removal of Acorn from the list of organizations on tap to do the counting. Verse-afire is unconvinced, having seen a partial list of the remaining leftist and radical leftist organizations with their sticky fingers in the census pie. Can we count on the guys in the following list to count fairly?

AARP; A. Phillip Randolph Institute; AFL-CIO; American Federation of Government Employees; AFSCME; American Federation of Teachers; Coalition of Labor Union Women; Coalition of Black Trade Unionists; Community Action Partnership; Families USA; International Brotherhood of Teamsters; Labor Council for Latin American Advancement; League of Women Voters of the United States; National Black Justice Coalition; National Council of La Raza; National Education Association; Pride at Work; Rainbow Coalition; Service Employees International Union (SEIU); Southern Coalition for Social Justice; United Workers; Workforce Alliance.

We have been assured the Congressional Black Caucus will not insist that additional millions of black people be counted by estimation, even though to do so will ensure Democrat majorities for all time.  And does anyone really think Acorn will be among the missing? C’mon, get real. President Obama has said he and Rahm Emmanuel will watch carefully to see the census count is fair. My only question is, qui custodiat ipsos custodes?

The President has said he wants ‘em counted

That each and every vote is sacred stuff

He’s ordered up an operation mounted

To count the votes until he has enough

To make damn sure the Donkeys are elected

In each and every district in the land

And candidates of GOP rejected

And critics of his acts can go pound sand

We know that Rahm and O will do the counting

Regardless of assurances they’ve made

The estimates of black votes will be mounting

Because that’s how the counters will get paid

The object of the count is to apportion

The House and all its Representatives

The Dems believe in tight’ning up the torsion

Until eventually the system gives

They understand if they control the census

Then they can count the districts as they please

After which they need not mend the fences

Because there will be no more GOPs

A Worse Jimmy Carter

President Obama said a number of things over the weekend in his Sunday talk show blitz and elsewhere, including 1) Requiring health insurance is not a tax increase; 2) I didn’t know Acorn was getting a whole lot of federal money; 3) Afghanistan strategy is still a work in progress; and 4) Missile defense decision was not about Russia.

Let’s take them one by one:

Requiring health insurance is not a tax increase. We will all be paying more for health insurance than we’re paying now, and while technically this may not be a tax increase in that the money will not be going directly to the federal treasury but to insurance companies, it’s still money out of pocket, so the effect is the same. Obama knows this is the first step toward a single payer system, at which point the money will be going directly to the federal treasury, and therefore a tax. Kind of like “It depends on what the meaning of is is”.

I didn’t know Acorn was getting a whole lot of federal money. Very nice parsing. He didn’t say he didn’t know Acorn was getting federal money, he said he didn’t know how much. Can anyone believe he doesn’t know all there is to know about Acorn, having worked side by side with them for twenty years?

Afghanistan strategy is still a work in progress. He is going to pull out and declare victory, even though during the campaign he stated forcefully that it was a disgrace that the Bush administration had not rounded up bin Laden and his fellow terrorists, declaring getting them was the first thing he was going to do as president. Now it seems not as important as prosecuting and destroying the CIA.

Missile defense decision was not about Russia. Of course it wasn’t. Russian threats had nothing to do with it. I believe him on this one. The decision not to deploy the missile shield in Poland and the Czech Republic was designed to alienate our allies and drive them back into the Russian orbit. All part of a larger plan to diminish the United States, the great oppressor in the eyes of community organizers everywhere.

Who is Obama and what does he want

Where is he going and why

Is it fourth down, is he going to punt

Or will he just sit down and cry

We don’t know the answer to what he is for

Or what he is firmly against

We do know he’s practically given the store

To people who should be defensed

Is giving up missiles protecting our land

A step in direction we like

And what about once or twice taking a stand

And not shrink from what comes down the pike

He says forced insurance is not a new tax

And kneeling to Putin is out

He says as for Acorn I don’t know the facts

But somehow I’m starting to doubt

With deficits soaring, inflation ahead

We might have to think about barter

And after just eight months I think could be said

We’ve elected a worse Jimmy Carter

Zealots

Mark Steyn clarifies the debate over health care saying Sarah Palin’s remarks about death panels resonated in a way that rationing never did. The health care bill approved by the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions committee provides federal grants to state and local governments as well as to a national network of community organizers (read ACORN) to promote healthy living, reduce disparities, and to monitor people’s weight, eating and exercise habits. (Pages 382-387 of the bill posted on the committee’s website.) And why should it end there? If allowed to come to pass, Obama and his radical left-wing agenda will result in the destruction of the United States as we have known it for the last two hundred plus years. The only question is, where will they put the camps for the obese and the dissidents? Who will manufacture the Zyklon B?

For non-WWII buffs, Zyklon B is a cyanide based insecticide used by the Nazis in WWII to kill Jews and other people they considered undesirable. The insecticide came in pellets impregnated with a warming substance, so that when exposed to the air it released hydrogen cyanide, a deadly gas. The Nazis herded a couple of thousand naked people, the old, the women and children, into the gas chambers where the doors where locked and a guard on the roof emptied a bucket of Zyklon B pellets into a shaft. The people inside took 20 to 30 agonizing minutes to die, after which the bodies were carted to the crematoria. Will the Obama left go that far? The history of Nazi Germany, Communist Russia, Communist China, the Khmer Rouge and others shows that the Left always goes that far.

Little Johnny’s overweight

It coulda been something he ate

It coulda been he got his momma’s genes

It doesn’t matter to the One

What’s good for father’s good for son

He’s got to know what health care really means

His daddy now admits he smokes

That second hand endangers folks

And since this is the second time he’s sinned

His punishment is durance vile

Where he can contemplate the style

In which our organizers sniff the wind

Now mommy she is neither fat

Nor smokes and we are thankful that

She stays within herself and keeps the rules

Our Acorn people say that she

Is quite delightful company

And spies upon the kiddies in the schools

We’re getting there, we’re on our way

To having all the folks obey

Each rule and regulation and decree

We have the plans and specs to build

The camps upon the land we’ve filled

Now all we need is cans of Zyklon B
