After the disastrous performance by the president in the first debate, which Romney won hands down, Obama stalwarts like Chris Rock and Andrew Sullivan cried bitter tears, and wondered out loud if their champion had just lost the election. Obama thought the debate was in the bag, but Romney took the debate and ran with it. The vice-president commiserates with the president on losing Chris Rock and Andrew Sullivan.

I tell you Joe, Obama said

They’ve got me feeling blue

So many states are turning red

I don’t know what to do

When friends like Chris Rock turn on us

And say Bin Laden’s skull

May not turn out to be a plus

Is something I must mull

Mull away, Joe Biden grinned

My take is we’re ahead

It’s all in how the tale is spinned

You killed Bin Laden dead

And single handed I might add

A throwdown to the mat

Enough to make Mitt Romney sad

We’ve got this stuff down pat

Sweet Andrew though, Obama sighed

Has let his courage flee

His faith in me has simply died

As far as I can see

If friends like these we cannot trust

To stand upright and tall

Then all our dreams will turn to dust

If we lose in the Fall

I know it looks grim right ‘bout now

But Joe, we must have faith

Or as sweet Andrew would allow

With Mitt we must keep paith

Why do I have the feeling we’ve been here before? It feels like 1914 again. Events spinning out of control and none with the wit nor will to stop the coming catastrophe. Iran and Israel on a hair trigger, China threatening Japan, Turkey and Syria trading blows, the entire Middle East in turmoil. It’s like watching a black and white slide show running backwards

The RMS Titanic sank

A hundred years ago

And now in climate drear and dank

The world begins to slow

And retrograde begin the slide

To times now dim and past

In spite of our hubris and pride

The film runs backward fast

Depression, war, and now the Turks

And can you spare a dime

The slide show races through the works

Of man’s most recent climb

In the last presidential debate Candy Crowley, a card carrying member of the Obama administration, television news division, stepped into the middle of an exchange about the Benghazi consulate attack in Libya between Governor Romney and President Obama, an exchange dangerous to the president. She interrupted Romney to say the president was right, he wasn’t, and that Romney was wrong, he wasn’t. The whole thing was obviously preplanned and rehearsed, since it centered around a remark made by the president in an obscure Rose Garden speech a month earlier. Is it credible Crowley remembered this remark? I doubt it. It is more likely the whole thing was set up between the Obama campaign and Crowley in the probable event the Benghazi consulate attack came up. One wonders why the Republicans agree to these debates with Democrat moderators who put their thumbs on the scale and actively try their best to make the Democrat look good and the Republican look bad. The only saving grace is that the days of the leftist media are clearly over.

Cry, screech, moan or wail

The thumb’s on the scale

The press intervenes for their man

They jigger the news

And suppress the views

Of those whom they hate ‘cause they can

They smile the quick smile

Of hate all the while

Insisting they’re fairer than that

To choirs they sing

And every day bring

New paper to spread for the cat

They clearly see death

With each lying breath

Of printed and well spoken lies

Their readership’s down

In red ink they drown

And fear lies in back of their eyes

Civility is a one way street. Democrats can say any vile thing they wish to say and never be called on it, while Republicans live in constant fear of crossing the Rubicon into Democrat style incivility and being pounded unmercifully for weeks on end by the Democrat media mouthpieces. But there are those who say that Romney must cross that Rubicon and respond to Democrat lies and incivility in like manner. There are others, though, who counsel caution, the Rubicon is too deep, too treacherous. Better to remain above it all.

The Rubicon was not as wide

As the chasm of his mind

A babbling brook from side to side

Its margins flower lined

To Romney though the little brook

Is one he must not cross

The same default line McCain took

The same that leads to loss

To Democrats the gentle stream

Is not a sharp divide

Between civility and scream

Their hatefulness to hide

And so it’s clear that Romney must

If mantle he would don

With honest words and people’s trust

Cross o’er the Rubicon

So Hillary took the fall and fell on her sword for Obama, declaring, in the face of all evidence to the contrary, that she was responsible for the lack of security at the Benghazi consulate that took the lives of our ambassador to Libya and three other Americans. One wonders what inducement Obama made to the Secretary of State to induce her to absolve Obama from blame? For starters, it’s a win-win for Hillary. If Obama loses the election nothing she says now will matter in the slightest. But if he happens to win, then there’s a payoff. And what could that payoff be? A nomination to the Supreme Court? The Democratic nomination for president in 2016? My guess is Hillary is aiming for the top, and the top is the presidency, and being a Clinton, if only by bogus marriage, she believes the White House is hers by right of inheritance.

How gallantly she got on board

She took the blame, and badly gored

She fell upon Obama’s sword

She looks to sweet sixteen

A Clinton, she felt the first prize

Was hers to have despite the lies

We win this year was her surmise

And then there’s sweet sixteen

The nomination’s hers by right

By acclamation, without fight

The presidency within sight

And all in sweet sixteen

And so she climbs aboard the bus

And smiling says what‘s all the fuss

The blame for everything’s on us

And on to sweet sixteen

To the horror of the print media people, it has emerged that few people today actually read a newspaper. Young people today are especially confident in their ability to function while completely ignorant of all about them. I spoke to a young woman today, and she seemed quite assured that she knew all there was to know about everything she needed to make her life happy and complete.

I never watch the news or read the papers

She smiled and shook her radiant blonde hair

It’s just a constant stream of crime and rapers

It got so that I just no longer care

I have my friends on Facebook who inform me

Of things that will not complicate my life

Like whose relationships are hot and stormy

And which of my old friends has left his wife

I have no time for politics or world news

That stuff is boring and is quite old hat

I have a friend who’s up to date on world views

But he became a bore and that was that

I know there’s an election in November

Although I’m not so sure about the date

They had one long ago if I remember

But boring stuff like that does not relate

I think I heard a war somewhere or other

Is ending soon but maybe I misheard

I have a friend who got it from her brother

We aren’t sure of that but that’s the word

A friend said polls say Romney’s badly losing

I don’t know who he is but that’s a shame

I don’t know why they want us to be choosing

I’m sure they’re both fine men, it’s just a game

It doesn’t matter who wins the election

My life won’t change and that is why I say

I don’t think I’ll be making a selection

It’s boring and I must be on my way

I watched her walk away her fine hips swinging

I watched the sunlight sparkle on her hair

Janet Napolitano, the head of Homeland Security, revealed that she did not use email, being afraid of putting things on a server that could be used against her in the future, or hacked by foreigners or domestic terrorists like Tea Partiers. I’m with our Janet. Email is dangerous. Once sent, it is there forever, never to be erased, never to be expunged. The Delete key is a sham, a device to reassure the gullible.

I used to love my email

The spam was really swell

It offered me Viagra

And other things as well

In the wake of the attack on the Benghazi consulate in which our ambassador and four others were killed and the entirety of our intelligence in the area destroyed, questions were raised about the lack of security at the consulate. In a moment of candor, President Obama reveals to Joe Biden, who believes the aftermath of the consulate affair was cleverly explained and dismissed by Obama, the real reason for the security lapse at the Benghazi consulate.

“You’ve got the gift,” Joe Biden said

“As some say, sleight of hand

But I see something else at work

I see a great command

Of stagecraft and an actor’s skill

At making folks believe

That what they see is but the truth

While you of course deceive”

“You’ve caught a glimpse,” Obama smiled

“A glimpse, however brief

The trick is not to fool the folks

But strengthen their belief

In me as I the chosen one

That sees the world against us now

While I get little blame

Now listen Joe, the Arab Spring

Was never what it seemed

And somebody got creamed

In the Vice-presidential debate with Congressman Ryan Thursday night, Vice-president Biden smirked, laughed, interrupted, lied, obfuscated and otherwise acted pretty much as expected. Also as expected, the president congratulated Joe Biden on his debate performance.

The way you counter and defend

And Joe you know how good I felt

Obama is giving out free phones now, to go along with free Chevy Volts and free health care, all in the incessant lefty drive to make beggars of us all in the name of fairness. For once addicted to the free Obama government cheese, there is no voting for anyone but Obama. And the easy part about voting for Obama is all you have to do is phone it in.
