The View From Teheran

Iran continues to bluster, threatening to do this to Israel, threatening to do that to the Great Satan, and all the while she is surrounded by American air bases and when they look into the Gulf they see giant aircraft carriers, not to mention the Israeli air force and Israeli subs with nuclear missiles. Why, in the face of instant annihilation, do they continue to threaten those who are capable of ending their lives in an instant? The answer is, they know Obama will not strike them, and they know Obama will prevent the Israelis from striking them.

To the East the land of Afghans

To the West lies small Kuwait

To the North and East are bases

Full of planes, at least to date

In the Gulf whose waters touch the

Shores of Teheran’s major ports

In the darkness through the water

Slips a Nemesis of sorts

US Armies on the borders

US ships upon the seas

US planes in close by bases

Waiting for the signaled squeeze

With Israeli nukes hair triggered

The stark view must drive them nuts

But Iran’s top guys are comfy

Knowing ‘Bama’s got no guts

Westphalia Or Westfailure?

The European Union is unraveling, as predicted, and soon will be no more. The European Left, after World War 2, decided to dismantle the system of European nation states created in 1648 by the Treaty of Westphalia after the Thirty Years War. Somehow the Lefty dream of a United Europe controlled by the Left failed in its promise to make for a better life for all. But the Left never sleeps, the Left never dies. They will be back, trying to convince the rubes that it failed because it wasn’t tried hard enough, that not enough money was spent, not enough debt run up, not enough corruption and micro-managing of economies by Lefty bureaucrats who insisted the amassed wisdom of centuries of commerce and economics was wrong.

There’s no disgrace in failure

We’re told as we grow up

For failure teaches that we

Should not ever slow up

Keep at it and don’t falter

And surely then success

Attends your every effort

How could you ask for less?

And yet we see the wells dry

The creeks refuse to rise

And portends of doom coming

Run brightly through the skies

And so what once was seen as

A holy work of man

Was only just another

Failed broken five year plan

If

President Obama, reflecting on the radiance of his argent being, describes, in all humility, what he would see in the mirror if he were someone or something else.

If I were a pol I would be like the Borgias

If I were a burger I would be a McGorgeous

If I were a king I would be a rich Saudi

If I were a dress I’d be spangled and gaudy

If I were a flower I’d be beauty but thorny

If I were Bill Clinton I’d be old but still horny

If I were a ship I would be the Titanic

If I were the iceberg it’s I who would panic

If I were a speech I’d be words bright and shiny

If I were a woods I would smell sweet and piney

If I were a mirror who sees my reflection

I’d tell him I view him with deepest affection

If I were a bird I’d fly higher than eagles

And if I were me I’d give votes to illegals

And if YOU were me you would know you are glory

And know that too soon is the end of the story

A Tangled Web

The Supreme Court has ruled that the Individual Mandate is a tax, and therefore constitutional. Put another way, the Court has ruled that Obama lied when he insisted it was not a tax.

Oh what a tangled web he’d weave

When first he practiced to deceive

By telling us ‘twas not a tax

But now the Court laid out the facts

That lying’s what Obama tried

To cover what he had to hide

So now the tortured middle class

Will have no option but to pass

Firm judgment on this lying lout

And come November toss him out

The Land Of Sparkling Wine

The European fantasy world, a product of Lefty hubris, is coming to its destined and predicted end. But it worked for a while. Europe was the world of sparkling wine and soaring rhetoric, all designed to convince the rubes that unelected Lefty bureaucrats in Brussels would turn arithmetic on its head, that markets and bond yields and soaring debt and public sector pensions and six week paid vacations meant nothing, that all that  mattered was good intentions. All would be well, the Lefty shamans and vote grafters insisted, especially since the United States was footing the defense bill and Germany was paying off the deficits run up by the Mediterranean countries whose economies were destroyed by the insane one currency fits all policy of the Lefty elites. And now it is coming to a close. But at least the Left had the power for a while, and that was the important thing.

From the frozen Arctic Circle

To the warm winds of the Med

From the plains of Eastern Europe

To the Channel they were led

By the shamans and the grifters

To the Land of Sparkling Wine

Where the straw was turned to gold and

Silver Fruit hung from the vine

To the Land of Full Employment

Where the State took every care

Just to see that all were happy

And no cupboard would be bare

And the people raised Colossus

To a height that ne’er was seen

Where the clouds formed at the navel

And the cloak was always green

For the Spring was always coming

Warming days and pleasant nights

And the people took the silver

And the gold as their just rights

And they builded them a Fortress

Lest Reality come forth

Letting ice and snow come flying

And the wind blow from the north

Yet the Fortress was assaulted

By the growing Winds of Fate

And in panic and in anger

People rushed upon the Gate

Thinking safety lay in walls that

Proved the merest wisps of straw

And Colossus shook and trembled

And in fear the people saw

That Colossus lay in shambles

Pieces strewn upon the plain

Where it lay for generations

Slowly rusting in the rain

Proud And Defiant

As Greece voted to continue to take other people’s money and Spanish debt was rising to unsustainable heights, threatening to bring down the entire Eurozone, President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso arrived at the G20 Summit in Mexico and instructed the assembled nations that he had not come to be lectured on economics. He did, however, expect the assembled nations to pony up money to save the Spanish banks, and thereby save the Euro, saying that not to do so would lead to the collapse of the European Union, and that, of course, would mean that he and the rest of the European Leftists would be out of cushy and very high paying jobs, and we wouldn’t want that, would we.

I come to you defiant, proud

No sign of hat in hand

To speak to this G20 crowd

In terms not base but grand

We come here to be lectured not

On matters a to zed

Or how our banks and credit got

So deeply in the red

We come to tell the world through you

We will accept, for free

Your money, which is, in our view

A gift from you to me

It’s in your interest that you save

Us from these parlous straits

For if you don’t then from the grave

We’ll pull you to your fates

So pony up, let’s see the dough

The moola and the cash

And if you don’t then you should know’

We might do something rash

Like bring the whole thing crashing down

The whole world now on dole

With cries of woe from every town

And death from pole to pole

A Fast And Furious Eric Holder

Eric Holder, Obama’s racist, arrogant and criminal Attorney General, told a Congressional committee investigating the Holder Justice Department’s program of giving automatic weapons to Mexican drug cartel murderers, a program called Fast and Furious, that he was prepared to appear before them, but the committee had better beware of asking him questions about Fast and Furious, threatening a full blown constitutional crisis if they did. Someone has his back to make such a threat, and we know who that someone is.

“Fast and furious,” some would cry

But Holder, with a smile so sly

Says, “Never was a man so shy

A slow and cautious man am I.”

“We want those docs and want them now!”

And Holder says, “I’ll tell you how

But first you have to scrape and bow

If not there’ll be a first class row.”

“You’re hiding something!” someone screams

And Holder smiles and says, “It seems

That documents in many reams

Are offered by my Justice teams.”

The chastened moan, “Alas, alack,

We have to try another tack.”

And Holder says, “You got it, Jack,

The big man says he’s got my back.”

On The Threshold Of Greatness

The Obama administration is incapable or unwilling to defend the interests of the United States against states that wish us harm. President Obama has sided with the radical left environmentalists in destroying the economy of the United States. He has placed our armed forces in a landlocked country with no way out, and in spite of all this, Obama is completely at peace with himself, completely convinced that he is the smartest guy in town, and that he is poised on the threshold of greatness. In a personal, wide ranging interview with President Obama in the Oval Office, late at night, no one in the darkened room but the two of us, he leaned close in a conspiratorial manner and whispered,

I’m poised on the threshold of greatness

I need but to step through the door

The women all love me completely

They lust just to be my amour

I was born to be somebody special

In Hilo or Kenya or such

I have a Messiah within me

And that is why I care so much

I speak and the birds think I’m singing

I walk on rose petals folks throw

I smile and the sun hides in envy

The seas and the atmosphere glow

The magic I’m blessed with is awesome

Impossible that I do wrong

The merest of words that I utter

Are turned instantly into song

I’m humbled to be in this office

Where great men have been here before

But none have been here on this threshold

Of greatness with me at the door

I thank you for coming this evening

Not often do I get the chance

To speak without screaming supporters

And women who just want to dance

And hold me real close to their bosoms

And fondle my shirt and my tie

I see that the nurses are calling

It’s time now to bid you goodbye

Three Men In A Tub

Two men and a woman set out on the perilous sea of European Union, trying mightily to save the Euro, save the Eurozone, save the dream of a unified socialist Europe that is rapidly crumbling around their ears. Merkel, Cameron and Hollande are their names, but we know them as Wynken, Blynken and Nod.

Wynken, Blynken and Nod one night

Set out in a wooden tub

To form them a perfect Union

Will it work? Ah there’s the rub

The Germans thought the Schlieffen plan

Would solve things overnight

But von Kluck turned before the Marne

A tragic oversight

Another try, this time with tanks

It worked fine at the start

At Stalingrad they had once more

Put horse behind the cart

But now the dream of Charlemagne

Of Europe in one house

With Germany the husband and

The others all a spouse

Frau Merkel with a twinkling eye

See her poll ratings spike

If she can pull it off this time

A new thousand year Reich

Firewall

Obama’s senior campaign advisor David Axelrod, in an interview, said he was particularly concerned about protecting Eric Holder’s Justice Department from undue White House influence or pressure. He said he was building a firewall between Holder and himself. Does anyone believe this? I thought not. In architecture, a firewall has a rating, that is it can hold back the flames for a specified amount of time, say four hours. I think this is what we are looking at here. I believe both Holder’s and Axelrod’s firewalls have a fire rating of one hour.

A firewall of concrete block

Can hold the fire back

Thus giving time for all in peril

To rise up from the sack

And sprint for exits far and near

Escaping with one’s life

From all the knives and hatchet jobs

With which DC is rife

So Axelrod can build his wall

And Holder build his too

But when the flames get good and hot

They’ll find the point of view

Of those whose power is in play

Will tear that wall right down

And Axelrod and Holder both

Will cry, “This stinkin’ town!

Just don’t deserve a guy like me

We’re loyal to the core

And don’t deserve a goodbye kiss

While being shown the door.”
