The Leftmost Way

Doctors today have to practice to a set of guidelines set down by bureaucrats in Washington, and it will only get worse if Obamacare is ruled constitutional by the Supreme Court. And it will get worse when the doctors are no longer paid by the patient, but by the government. When the doctor is an employee of the government, the doctor will make decisions that favor the government and not the patient, because his livelihood will depend upon his doing so. My grandson is hell-bent on being a doctor, and I have every confidence he will succeed.  It is chilling to think what he will be taught.

The Left besmirches everything

Once touched by Leftist hands

And if you doubt the truth of this

Just look at Left-run lands

Where Lefties run the hospitals

With doctors in their pay

The doctor’s Hippocratic Oath

Does not come into play

It’s either patient or the State

You cannot work for both

The Left will see you subscribe to

The Hypocritic Oath

Flat Earthers

President Obama recently called those of us who think he’s a radical left wing nutcase who is driving the United States over a cliff “Flat Earthers”, who do not believe in progress, progress as defined by a man who has never earned a dime at an honest job in his life. Progress to Obama is the ever more massive growth of the Federal power in the hands of the Left. Curiously enough, I recently spoke to an Obama supporter who turned out to be the real thing, a bona fide Flat Earther.

I knew a guy who said the earth

Was flatter than a spatula

That if you fell right off the edge

There’s no one there to catula

He said it’s known that there’s a bunch

Of evidence, a batula

That ships fall off the edge and they’re

Just doing what comes natula

He said he voted for Barack

Because he’s one cool catula

And said he’ll vote for him again

Because of plans he’ll hatula

To save the country and give all

A great big hug and patula

He’s done great things, he’s been the best

Damn prez and that is thatula

The Hornet And The Wasp

The Congress has recently voted to name a Littoral Combat Ship after congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, who was shot by a madman and had to retire from Congress. Now we all wish Congresswoman Giffords well, but does getting shot by a nut qualify her for having a warship named after her? I don’t think so. The Navy and the Congress, which mandates these things, should return to the way it was, when ships were named for battles or for insects. Like the Hornet and the Wasp.

Those were the days, the days of fighting sail

The Hornet and the Wasp, both sloops of war

Descendants sailed the oceans of the world

Each name a mem’ry of those gone before

When did it change, this hon’ring of the past

How did the politicians gain control

Deciding their names went before the mast

Besmirching time ‘twixt sail and oil and coal

Tradition now means nothing to this class

Of lefties who command our days and nights

Who’d never in a wardroom raise a glass

To toast a hero or a ship that fights

Who yet will give a fighting ship a name

With no connection to our country’s past

Of Lexington and battles filled with flame

And billowed sails and yards slung on the mast

Time And Tide

News reports indicate a rising tide of crime due to the increasingly difficult financial times. It seems laundry detergent is being stolen from store shelves all across the country, with Tide the rip off of choice. But I wonder. If a thief is caught stealing Tide, will he do Time?

Time and Tide, the poet wrote

Wait for no man, so goes the quote

So steal your Tide, just do not wait

The thief of Time: procrastinate

You’re Not A Loan

The student loan debt crisis threatens to be bigger than the mortgage crisis that brought on the recession in 2008. College students find themselves with degrees the colleges sold them at enormous cost which are worth nothing in the marketplace, and the poor wretch who took out student loans totaling a couple hundred thousand dollars now finds her degree in Witchcraft and Wymyns Studies of little commercial value. But there’s more than one way to skin a witch’s cat, and more than one way to pay off a student loan. It all depends on your major.

Two hundred thousand down the drain

She wept with bitter tears

Degrees I’ve bought with constant pain

A wasted four whole years

They told me a degree was such

That everyone must earn

I didn’t know ‘twould cost this much

Will suckers never learn

My Wymyns Studies class was great

I’ve honors in Witchcraft

I felt that this was tempting fate

But my professors laughed

They said I’d studied much too hard

So many hours spent

On pentagram and Tarot card

That’s where the money went

And now the bank is asking for

The money that I owe

And now the imps I’m tasking for

The final, vital blow

The imps, crazed female to the bone

And witches blood red gowned

Have set alight the bank and loan

And burned them to the ground

It’s All Free

In recent testimony before Congress, a Ms Sandra Fluke, rhymes with luck, demanded that the taxpayers pay for her contraception, which, according to her, costs her a thousand dollars a year. She didn’t say how often she has sex, so we don’t know what that comes to per occasion. Three times a day would make those occasions a very inexpensive dollar a piece. Still, it isn’t the money, it’s the idea that everything should be free.

When I was a kid, it all was free

But then you see, It had to be

My parents paid and that’s the key

Because I had no money

But now I’m old, and I have paid

My share of everything I’ve made

To government who want to raid

The rest of my kept money

To give to folks who want for free

The things my parents gave to me

But it won’t work, because you see

They’ve taken all my money

Do Empires Die?

Five empires came to a sudden end during and at the end of WW1. Other empires die a bit more slowly. There is no standard way in which an empire dies. Some of them go along without a care until they suddenly fall off a cliff. Others die a lingering death. Falling off a cliff is what some are now projecting for the United States, an empire without the colonialism. All signs point to an imminent collapse, they say, and the United States will, in very short order, join the dodo, the Romans and the Assyrians in the dustbin of history. But even when an empire is no more, it is still felt, long after its death, in the words we use, the alphabet we use, the law we use, the very nature of the culture and history that surrounds us. So even if the doomsayers are right, and the United States empire goes over the cliff tomorrow, the United States will still be here, just as the Roman Empire is still here.

Do empires die a lingering death

Do they scratch and claw for every breath

Or do they suddenly collapse

The answer is, they do, perhaps

Phoenicia surely is no more

But what if they’d not gone before

How would our alphabet be seen

Would royal purple have been green

Was Gibbon wrong, Rome not decline

Collapse instead, would history’s line

Be any different than we know

Our culture, law, the answer’s ‘no’

Empires don’t completely die

Faint traces of them always lie

In language, customs, art and gods

In measure metric or in rods

Is Pericles alive today

Does Homer still have much to say

Is England still a living place

Her children still a living grace

America is England’s child

Born in a fury, young and wild

What will we leave when it is we

Who cut the vine and fell the tree

And leave this cold cruel world behind

For leave we shall, but you shall find

That no one ever fully dies

That every day the sun will rise

And what we’ve been and what we’ve done

Will last as long as there is sun

The Long Cold Sleep

The Left is a vile, murderous ideology.  Stalin, Hitler, Mao, Pol Pot, they were all leftists. Leftists and murderers, along with such lesser leftist murderers as Castro and the Kim family of North Korea, who differed from the first four only in the number of the murdered.  And now they are in effective control of the United States.  They haven’t murdered anyone yet, they have not set up the camps yet, but that’s only because they do not yet have ultimate power. But they’re getting there, and if Obama is re-elected they will be one step closer. There is only one thing to do with the Left. Hurry them to sleep, to sleep the restless and unending sleep of eternal damnation. And if, perchance, they should awake, then drive a sharpened stake into their blackened hearts, for evil is never conquered, it is only silenced for the nonce.

The Left sleeps not, it has been said

They will not sleep until they’re dead

Until that time what we must do

Is fill our ranks with good men who

Will not back down in face of threats

Show no remorse and no regrets

At doing to the Left as they

Do unto others as they may

We must not cower, stand aside

And let the Leftist menace slide

And look away as they use force

To change the country and its course

To Lefty visions of the hell

That wait the ringing of the bell

Announcing that our freedom’s gone

And comes the darkness with no dawn

We must engage them to the death

We must fight on with every breath

The Left sleeps not, it has been said

They will not sleep until they’re dead

The Beard

The United States, in the person of Hillary Clinton, Secretary of State, has told the government of Liberia that they must change their religious and cultural beliefs about homosexuality or lose financial aid.  Liberia has been our friend in Africa, and this is just another example of the Obama administration’s policy of embracing our enemies and spitting on our friends. And Hillary of all people, giving this ultimatum, Hillary Clinton, around whom the stories of her young female lover have never gone away. Well, maybe it takes one to know one. We’ll know those stories are true when her husband grows a beard. Verse-afire has come into possession of her speech to the homophobic Liberians.

Let’s get together all us guys

Come in and sit a spell

We’ll tell you and it’s no surprise

That we all wish you well

It’s just that we don’t like the way

You’re treating some poor folks

Who just because they’ve been born gay

They must endure the jokes

That sometimes turn to viciousness

And feelings do get hurt

Because of some maliciousness

And voices sometimes curt

So in the future our advice

To you is that you must

Be honor bound to treat them nice

Or you will lose our trust

We know this goes against the grain

Of centuries of trends

But think of all that you will gain

When you make gays your friends

For one thing you’ll be better dressed

Your dancing will improve

And you’ll be gay and not depressed

You’ll be right in the groove

As Sec of State I can attest

That gayness is the life

With Bill the beard, that’s been the best

Of being Billy’s wife

A Loser’s Game

A liberal progressive moron comedian can say the vilest thing about a conservative woman and no one cares, and if a conservative complains, he is told to lighten up, it’s only comedy.  A liberal can say anything he wants to say, the viler the better, and no one responds in kind.  Why not?  Why doesn’t the right respond to liberals when liberals say the most vicious things about them?  It’s because conservatives believe in being civil, in not lowering themselves to the level of the Left.  But that is a losing proposition.  When you don’t respond in kind the general public, which has an IQ somewhere around room temperature, believes the lies are true.  Not responding is a loser’s game.

I met a man who said to hang

A murderer was not

A thing a civil man would do

Because ‘twould mean the pot

Would then be just the same as those

Foul kettles that we hate

And then he smiled and walked away

To meet his loser’s fate

A woman said to kill a child

Was worse than she could stand

Just thinking of it made her cry

But on the other hand

She felt it was a woman’s right

Despite her firm held views

To kill her child because she had

A woman’s right to choose

These people think they’re being fair

To not combat or fight

The leftist culture when it dares

To make a wrong a right

They’re not inclined to take a stand

No argument to state

And so they smile and walk away

To meet their loser’s fate
