A Well Deserved Contempt

Dana Milbank, at the Washington Post, writes of President Obama’s utter disdain for the press at the recently concluded nuclear summit in Washington, DC, a summit attended by some of the world’s foremost dictators, but not the two principal culprits, Iran and North Korea. Milbank seems to feel that the press was treated shabbily by the president, not allowing them access to the meetings or the summiteers. But what does the press expect? Slavish devotion and boot-licking by the press was bound to create a sense of profound and well deserved contempt on the part of the president.

The press thinks it’s entitled to

Speak with any bigwig who

Happens to be visiting these shores

They feel as any dog would feel

When master tells them all to heel

And acts in ways the press surely deplores

The press cares not Obama seeks

To raise the debt to untold peaks

They care not all if Iran nukes the Jews

They get upset and only when

Obama treats them not like men

But like a lapdog he can well abuse

Of course the press will surely find

That loving Obie Wan is kind

Of like them loving someone’s chilly stare

Obama treats them all like dirt

They grovel more the more they’re hurt

And why should we, or Obie, really care

The Roaches And The Meek

The First Nuclear Age has been defined as the bi-polar world between the two nuclear superpowers, the United States and the Soviet Union, with minor nuclear powers Great Britain and France. This first age, the age of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), lasted some forty or fifty years. The Second Nuclear Age has been defined as the age of proliferation, when countries such as Israel, Pakistan, China and North Korea developed the bomb, with Iran on the threshold of having nuclear capability. The Third Nuclear Age is defined as the time, now fast approaching, when Iran and/or North Korea will give or sell nuclear weapons to non-state actors like al-Qaeda and the Taliban. When that happens we will long for the good old days of Mutual Assured Destruction.

How much we yearn at every turn

For good old days of yore

When all that’s good was all that stood

Before the locked nuke door

Today we see the NPT

In tattered disarray

It served us well but what the hell

The thing has seen its day

Now everyone under the sun

Has nukes or plans in place

To build or try to steal or buy

A bomb to join the race

And soon the wise al Qaeda guys

Will get their hands on one

And New York town will be one down

Though not be one and done

For soon the sky will see them fly

As missiles targets seek

And the world’s heirs as if one cares

The roaches and the meek

Teherananana

Iran will very soon have nuclear weapons, and the question is, who will be the first to get one, the Taliban or al Qaeda? My guess is the Taliban. Many years ago Harry Belafonte had a hit song called Day-o, the lyric of which went, “Come Mr. Tallyman, tally me banana.” The tallyman will now be counting out nukes, and not bananas.

Come Mr. Tallyman, tally me banana

Is now Come Mr. Taliban let me show you this

Nice little thing we’ve got here’n Teherananana

For the right price we are sure you cannot miss

Think of the joy you will bring to Muslim masses

Think of the laughter the Arab street will find

Think of the tears as you kick those Yankee asses

Think of the fears you will raise in Kaffir’s mind

Don’t think of price for we know you can afford it

We know you’ve got resources out the old kazoo

Just sign your name here and then we can record it

Then after that you’ll just have to holler boo

Everyone knows that you never show no mercy

Everyone knows that you mean just what you say

One little bomb could take out all of New Jercy

Two little bombs and you own the USA

Come Mr. Taliban to Teherananana

Come Mr. Taliban cross my palm with gold

Come Mr. Taliban tally me banana

Soon everyone will be doing as he’s told

He Ain’t No Ally Of Mine

Since March 14th President Obama and the Secretary of State have issued a series of insults to Israel. On that date the president and secretary of state scolded the Israelis for daring to build some housing on land belonging to Israel, demanding that they cease forthwith or suffer the consequences. Just recently, during a White House visit by Prime Minister Netanyahu, Obama abruptly got up and left the room, telling the Prime Minister of our most important ally in the Middle East that he was going to dinner and he could hang around if he liked. There has been much speculation as to the reason the president and secretary of state have so insulted our only friend in the region, most believing there must be some underlying reason we on the outside do not yet know about. I don’t think so. I think the reason is far simpler. Obama was raised Muslim, by a marxist mother and communist father, has hung around all his life with virulent anti-Semites, and is simply doing what he has been acculturated to do.

To those who might be wondering why

Obama seems so curt

To Netanyahu and the Jews

It’s ‘cause he wants them hurt

He grew up Muslim don’t you see

Then Farrakhan as friend

The Reverend Wright for twenty years

Now Israel’s gonna end

The Jews are enemies of his

And every Muslim knows

That killing Jews is Allah’s wish

That’s why the feeling grows

In Obie Wan’s perfervid mind

That history now states

It’s time for peace for all mankind

Blessed holocaust awaits

Bombs Away? No Way

President Obama has redefined the posture of the United States regarding our use of nuclear weapons if we are attacked. Every president post World War 2 has kept our options open in case of attack, but not Obama. He has now declared, all by himself, that should the United States suffer a massive chemical or biological attack we will not retaliate with nuclear weapons, so long as the attacker has signed the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty. I can see it now: an American city is hit with a massive biological attack, hundreds of thousands dead, and Obama calls in the lawyers to determine if the attacker is in compliance with the NNT, with all paperwork up to date. If so, then we presumably retaliate with bombs and bullets, taking care lest we hurt a civilian. Obama has just put a great big bull’s-eye on our backs, but he’s cool with that. For Obama it’s all just a game, and losing has no consequences.

It’s just a game, it’s just like hoops

Or so Obama says

The ball comes in the paint, I score

That’s why I am the prez

We used to press them man to man

Sometimes we used a zone

But now it’s time to change our schemes

For defense of my own

I’ll tell the world that we won’t fight

Come hit us if you like

So long as you just only use

A biologic strike

We’re standing down our nukes you see

And hoping all goes well

And hoping others do the same

But only time will tell

We’re up by one, they have the ball

One second left to play

I’ve lost my man, he shoots, he scores

Oh well, it’s not my day

The Disposal Game

Matt Taibbi, in Rolling Stone, describes how Jefferson County, Alabama, borrowed itself into bankruptcy. Under pressure from environmentalists, the county decided to reduce its sewage plant outflow into the nearby river to zero, something no treatment plant in the world has ever accomplished. Unfortunately, getting down to zero required a sewage treatment plant equivalent to the Manhattan Project. The county borrowed an enormous amount of money from Wall Street, some of which even passed unscathed through the hands of the local politicians, and so, between the staggering debt service and the massive corruption, the county soon found itself defaulting on its loans and laying people off. Taibbi, of course, blames it all on a failure of capitalism and the greed of Wall Street bankers who lent the county the money. But this is more than the story of a little Alabama county, this is the future of the United States, with trillions and trillions of debt that can only be paid by debasing the currency or raising taxes to levels that kill the economy. Obama did tell Joe the Plumber that he wanted to redistribute the wealth, and it looks like he’s doing it, but the problem is, he’s redistributing it to China.

He liked to bring things home from work

A virtue, I will grant

The problem was he worked all day

At the disposal plant

But that was nothing to the stuff

The politicians got

Watches, cash and sweetheart deals

It all went in the pot

Enviro whackos egged them on

The river must be clean

We’ll kill dear Mother Earth, they cried

Unless we all go green

The whackos listened not at all

To engineers who said

A simple three stage treatment plant

Would be just fine instead

With money dangling ‘fore their eyes

The politicians lunged

And grabbed it all for them and theirs

And into debt they plunged

They hocked the town up to its ears

Taxpayers had a fit

The promises the whackos made

Were just a crock of s**t

RMS Titanic

On 14 April 1912, the White Star Line’s unsinkable Titanic, the pride of Great Britain, the world’s most powerful country, hit an iceberg in the North Atlantic and sank, taking with her over a thousand passengers and crew.  Today, 98 years later, England is nearly bankrupt and Europe and the United States close behind. In 1912 the future of Western society was seen as limitless. Today the future of Western civilization is cloudy at best, with populations expecting government handouts to continue unabated despite frightening debt, with populations bereft of any knowledge of their country’s history or culture, and with politicians unwilling and unable to tell the truth, even if they knew it. The iceberg is closer to us now than it ever was in our history, and when we hit that iceberg it will be more than a passenger liner that goes down. Multiculturalism and political correctness have sapped all notion of what is right and good about our country from the populace, and the mommy state politicians have rented our souls with brass plated lead coins they insist are gold. Unless we take our country back and stop the insanity, we will very shortly hit that iceberg, and when we do you will find the water is a whole lot colder than you could have ever imagined.

We speak of Titanic and icebergs and floe

I’ve heard of it somewhere and here’s what I know

On a sad day in April of ‘75

Hardly a man is now alive

Now wait just a minute that was Paul Revere

Who rode a horse somewhere, or that’s what I hear

And sometime in April that ship came to harm

She sank, I believe, on some Middlesex farm

The past seems so hazy, so far out of date

The future will come though it may be quite late

The present is peaceful, with goodies for free

I know ‘cause they say so each night on TV

I vote the straight ticket ‘cause else what’s the use

If stuff starts to go wrong I’ve got an excuse

But so far all’s well and I’m quite pleased to say

That my life is one swellegant joy day to day

The government works so that life is quite nice

Though lately I’m seeing a good bit of ice

The captain has said there is nothing to fear

We shall break all the records by end of the year

I sleep soundly now in my Promenade berth

As my ship sails serenely upon this fair earth

I go up on deck to a starry filled night

With there in the distance a glorious sight

Pale white in the darkness, an iceberg I’m told

Now who would have thought that this water’s so cold

Come Joe Sardine In My Flying Machine

Used to be flying was a comfortable way to go. But no longer. Hours waiting at the terminal, bag fees, the endless security lines, small seats, no legroom, no going to the bathroom one hour before landing, somebody sneaking a smoke and setting the toilet on fire, and now the airlines are considering a new seating arrangement that will jam more people into the same sized airplane. Yes, it’s coming, folks, pretty soon the face to face seating arrangement will be standard, and people will be jammed together like the proverbial sardines, the only difference between the passengers and the occasional casket in the cargo hold is the dead are far more comfortable.  I believe they wrote about this situation, way back at the dawn of the aeroplane, in a song called Come Josephine In My Flying Machine.

Come Joe Sardine in my flying machine

And it’s up we go, up we go

And no you can’t smoke

And the seating’s a joke

As it’s up we go, up we go

Oh, oh, a little bit higher

Oh no, the toilet’s on fire

Come Joe Sardine in my flying machine

Going up, so long, goodbye

A Drumroll, Please!

With the retirement of Justice Stevens, President Obama has an historic opportunity. I submit the seat should be filled by lottery.

With Justice Stevens going home

Obama has the choice

Of nominating someone who

Will give another voice

To members of communities

Who are excluded now

From serving on the Court because

They simply don’t know how

How many people in this land

Are not a law school grad

How many unemployed right now

Just need a job real bad

A lottery, ten bucks a shot

We all can play this game

A great big drum of ID slips

Let Oprah pick a name

But why stop there, there’s other jobs

That anyone can fill

Age thirty-five and citizen

And you just fit that bill

Senators and congressmen

Let’s designate by lot

I guarantee that what we get

Are better than we’ve got

Tea Parties – Hinges Of History?

Not to get the big picture too big, but we may be at the beginning of one of those Hinges Of History future historians will write about at length, much along the lines of the political realignment that saw the demise of the Whigs. The Tea Partiers are working from the ground up to capture and remake or restore the Republican Party to conservative first principles. Will it work? Who knows. But what we do know is that every event has a presaging event, and that event a presaging event, and so on, without which the event would not have happened. With the Tea Parties that event was the election of Barack Obama and his immediate voyage to change the economic and political system of the United States to European style socialism. Had Hillary or John McCain been elected it is doubtful either would have pursued the course Obama chose, and thus no Tea Parties. In my view the Tea Parties are the culmination of events that began long ago. Pick your starting point. Any will do. If Winston Churchill had not persuaded a reluctant British Cabinet in September 1914 to declare war on Germany, Germany would have won a small scale European war by Christmas 1914, territory would have been exchanged, five empires would have remained intact, there would have been no Stalin, no Hitler, no World War 2, no flight to the moon in 1969. The entire history of the world these past 95+ years would have been different. But Churchill’s speech to the Cabinet in 1914 had its own presaging events, without which Churchill would not have given the speech. So where to start? We are where we are. Churchill’s speech that led to a four year war that toppled European civilization, was, I believe, one of the Hinges Of History. It remains to be seen if the Tea Party movement is a Hinge Of History, but I think it has the makings of being one.

When citizens have had enough

When citizens get mad

They grumble, mumble curse and fret

When seeing things go bad

Obama promised hope and change

All with a wink and smirk

And once in office said that he’d

Make socialism work

He gave GM to union friends

He raised the debt to heights

That gave the decent citizens

The screaming, reaming frights

He tore apart our great health care

The finest in the world

By buying votes and making deals

All done with wet lips curled

And so the people of this land

Assembled as their right

And formed a party to oppose

Hussein with all their might

They march with placards proudly high

They march to the attack

The Tea Parties are here to say

They want their country back
