The Writing Finger Having Writ

Professors are now banning laptops in their classrooms because of the constant distractions; some kids are surfing the web, some are watching porn, some playing games. A little ironic because not so long ago professors and teachers advocated computers in the classroom, and now they find themselves playing second fiddle to a touch pad.

No more the writing finger writ

No longer words on wall

A letter now is just a bit

In lecture’s empty hall

Professor at the lectern waits

His notes in easy reach

Until distracting noise abates

So he can once more teach

The problem is, to fill the gaps

The wired ones at least

Have much more info in their laps

The teacher having ceased

To be the one who must purvey

The knowledge and the facts

Beginning with the course survey

And on for several acts

Today a touch pad brings to men

The Universe complete

With Wi-Fi Solon lives again

Yo teach, you can’t compete

Ahmed The Bomb Maker

The Belmont Club has an interesting post on “getting left of the boom”, that is, getting the IED before it gets you.

Whistling an old Sinatra tune

Ahmed roamed the room

Intent on projects for the day

A few things to go boom

Sinatra songs just filled his head

Only The Lonely filled his mind

His wife, his love since she was twelve

Was doing him unkind

The IEDs were cooking now

Friend Yousef taking care

To see that nothing would go wrong

The danger they would share

His mind’s eye drifted back to her

To her new love, the thief

Who stole her gentle eyes from him

Aazad, the Taliban chief

Come Fly With Me, Aazad had said

In The Wee Small Hours they met

Then Yousef brought him back to earth

The fuses must be set

Revenge and rage filled Ahmed’s soul

His love, his wife, her vow

Aazad the Chief was not at fault

But trysts he’d not allow

Sinatra’s words played loud and clear

He’d live by Allah’s code

The IEDs were ready now

And soon they would be sowed

How many of them do you want

Friend Yousef said at last

And Ahmed strode straight for the door

The time was here so fast

Two Marvelous For Words, he smiled

And shouldered up his load

Just One For My Baby is all I need

And one more for the road

Will 2012 Be Too Late?

Paul Ryan, 40 year old five term Republican congressman from Wisconsin, has become the GOP leader on economic policy, a policy that attempts to stop the Democrat steamroller from driving the country into bankruptcy. Obama has already added over 2 trillion dollars to the national debt in just one year, and is projected to add over 10 trillion dollars more over the next few years. Paul Ryan says, “Within a few years a sale of government bonds will fail. The capital markets will go crazy, and the Fed and Treasury will run to Capitol Hill demanding a giant bailout. Adding Obamacare would make the crisis go deeper and arrive faster.” Well, we now have Obamacare, and the financial crisis will be much worse than anyone could have imagined. We need Paul Ryan, or someone like him, to drive a stake in the evil heart of Marxist socialism that is driving the country over the cliff. The problem is, 2012 may be too late, Obama may have succeeded before then in driving the country over the cliff, to smash in bloody fragments onto the rocks far below.

Paul Ryan is tryin’

To make sure it’s dyin’

And see that our Marxism’s dead

The party is over

We’re out of the clover

We’re all gonna work more instead

Entitlements finished

And welfare diminished

We’ll soon put the country on track

No longer will shirkers

Outnumber the workers

With Ryan our liberty’s back

Obama rejected

He could get elected

Both Marxist and Maoist he’d shelve

A man who is able

To clean out the stable

Paul Ryan in twenty oh twelve

A Bondian Aspect

Last Friday, before we got run over by Obamacare over the weekend, we began the saga of one Sulim Amadayev, the Chechen turncoat who was gunned down by the Russians in Dubai, killed by a man with a gold plated automatic, in a clear reference to Agent 007. Continuing the saga, the intriguing question is – will the Russians follow along the Bondian path? Will Russian assassins be reading the adventures of James Bond as they track down their prey?

The Bondian aspect, golden gun

Reveals the fiendish clever fun

The Russkies have when playing out their games

We’ll very soon discover that

The next assassin used a hat

Like Odd Job tried to use on dapper James

Or how about the laser beam

A Dr No or Blofeld scheme?

Or maybe someone else who tried the deed

But Bond would even up the score

With romps with his Pussy Galore

Then when the plot got thick he’d intercede

But Bond was fiction, this was real

It had a kind of final feel

The Russkies don’t forget and don’t forgive

You cross those babies and you’re dead

In a garage or in your bed

When bought you stay if you expect to live

The Sweet Sound Of Boots

The Left has shown its fascist face for all to see. They care deeply about certain things, but they care about power most of all. Power to control our lives, power to tell us what to do and when to do it, power to decide that giving Viagra to everyone, even sex offenders, is the essence of humanitarian care-giving. They care not that the bill that is now law will bankrupt the country unless somehow checked, either by the courts or by the elections in November. If they can force you to buy insurance under penalty of law, if the IRS can deduct the price of insurance you do not want from your paycheck, or fine you for non-compliance, why cannot they force you to buy a Government Motors car? And what color shirts will Obama’s internal armed force wear, green or brown? When you hear the boots on the pavement it will be too late. A liberal commenter sent me the following message:

It doesn’t make much sense to me

Why knuckledraggers cannot see

That sex offenders are just people too

A little pill just once a day

A tortured child the price we pay

Preserving liberty for me and you

You right wing guys give me a pain

All hail Barack, long may he reign

He’s what this country needs and what it’s got

Next on the docket cap and trade

And let us call a spade a spade

Michelle is gorgeous too and just damn hot

In closing let me say Barack

Is taking our great country back

Back to its great beginnings and its roots

Soon you’ll see us marching proud

Horst Wessel Lied so clear and loud

The pavements ringing with the sound of boots

The Long, Slppery Road

It is now more than 24 hours since the Dems passed Obamacare late Sunday night, and I am still sick unto my stomach. We had too close a glimpse at the sausage making. Deals and threats, threats and deals. I tell myself it isn’t over, I tell myself there is still a chance to stay the country from going down the road to serfdom, to borrow a phrase, to stay the country from going down that long, slippery socialist road that leads to the long sleep of national death. It took Rome a long time to die; our death will be cleaner, for the barbarians are not at the gates, they are ruling the country. But I do not despair. To borrow another phrase, God looks after drunks, fools and the United States of America. I believe we will come through this, changed, possibly, in some ways, but not fundamentally changed, as is so ardently wished by our leftist rulers. Maybe the pundits are right, maybe the Democrats will be severely punished in November. I hope so, but November is a long way off, and much can and will happen. I comfort myself by believing the left has just had its Austerlitz, and Waterloo is looming, and they will go the way of another American political party, the long gone and mostly forgotten Whigs.

Nothing could be vainer

Than the plea by Mr. Boehner

To get the Dems to thinking

‘Bout a bill that was so stinking

That most people did reject it

But his plea, as was expected

Was rebuffed by those who heard it

And they voted as if herded

By Pelosi dressed in fancy

Clothing made for just our Nancy

Made it clear that any member

Who votes no will long remember

What it’s like to cross the party

So with cheers both loud and hearty

The Dems just destroyed the nation

Disregarding the oration

By distinguished Mr. Boehner

Their disdain could not be plainer

But the battle isn’t over

For the moment they’re in clover

But November will be here soon

They’ll be sitting in the rear soon

For no matter how they salve it

Angered people will not have it

Yes right now they’re quite the fed pigs

Pretty soon they’ll be the dead Whigs

Vampires

On the very day the Democrats in the House pushed through the most destructive bill to ever see the light of day, on the very day the odious Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, announced grandly and with a beatific smile that We Are Doing This For The American People!, when we all know they are doing it for power, the power to tell us all what to do and when to do it, the power all leftists live for and die for, yes, on the very day 235 years of history and culture were tossed in the dumpster and the country started on the path to a Marxist socialistic country, the Belmont Club had a discussion about bats. You know, those furry things that fly at night and turn into vampires. Sort of like Democrats now that I think of it, and who better to lead them in their nightly forays but Botox Nancy.

I don’t love those bats, but I have no hard feelings

They’re just some weird rats that hang down from the ceilings

And when they get sleepy they clump nice and cozy

To me they’re just creepy, like Bela Lugosi

But I like them more than those Dems and their hell care

We’ll even the score, we care not for their welfare

They think that we’ll take it and thank them forever

They think they can fake it but they’re not that clever

We’ll wait till they’re sleepy and clump nice and cozy

And wood stake that creepy vampire Pelosi

Get Out And Get Under

The Obama administration continues to throw our allies under the bus. So far Britain, France, Poland, the Czech Republic and India have been run over, and now Israel, with no doubt more to come. There’s an old song called Get Out And Get Under. It’s a 1913 song about the joys of driving that new-fangled craze, the automobile, but with a few word changes it might serve the Obama administration.

He told the Brits to get under, get out and get under

They got some old DVDs

That they could play at their ease

He told the Poles to get under, get out and get under

The missile shield’s off for good

Just join the Brits ‘neath the hood

The French would have to get under, get out and get under

With Brits and Poles if you please

Don’t like their stinky old cheese

And so they’d have to get under, get out and get under

Obama’s driving the bus

He doesn’t think about us

New Delhi had to get under, get out and get under

The Pakis are our new friends

That’s how it goes with these trends

The Czechs are in a new orbit now

‘Cause Russia is our newest best pal

So they will have to get under, get out and get under

There’s room for many and more

And Israel adds to the score

And soon ‘twill be so crowded under there

But Prez Obama doesn’t seem to care

And soon there’ll be no one to ride the bus

And underneath will be everyone of us

Because he’ll put us all under, we’ll all get out and get under

While he smoothes out the world’s every muss

The Wooing Of Suzanne Kosmas

With the critical health care vote in the House on Sunday, the President is pulling out all the stops, witness his wooing of reluctant Congresswoman Suzanne Kosmas, (D-FL), who is rightly concerned that unemployment in her district is over 10% and rising because Obama has tossed NASA into the dumpster. Will it be enough? We’ll see. My guess it will pass, or have been deemed to have passed, even if the Dems have to turn out the lights.

Mr. President, I do declare

I’d love to vote for your health care

But policy is raising hob

My people’ve lost their NASA job

I feel your pain, Suzanne my dear

But really, you have naught to fear

I know I’m closing NASA down

You sure are pretty when you frown

Now here we are at Air Force One

See how she sparkles in the sun

So come, my dear, and climb right in

We’ll take her for a little spin

That’s right, get comfy in your seat

Now here’s some slippers for your feet

A snack, some food, a little drink?

Ah then where was I, let me think

Ah yes, the coming health care vote

You know we’re in the self same boat

We sink or swim together, dear

We battle stormy weather here

But with your help we’ll pull it through

I know that I can count on you

My private cabin has a lock

When the door’s closed no one will knock

These seats you know go fully back

You think you’re really in the sack

Here let me pull the curtain down

You sure are pretty when you frown

The Man With The Golden Gun

A Chechen man named Sulim Amadayev, who had led secret Russian GRU units against his fellow Chechens, turned against his Russian masters and switched sides. The Russians, not taking kindly to betrayal, tracked Sulim down and shot him dead in a Dubai luxury hotel. Reports are that Amadayev was shot by a man with a gold plated automatic. Shades of James Bond.

A golden arm, a golden gun

See how it glitters in the sun

A quiet word, a leisured smile

And you’ll be gone a good long while

Dubai’s the place if you must go

With luck you’ll win or place or show

The towers, sand and cool gulf breeze

Again with luck a life of ease

But if you’ve crossed those Russian gents

They’ll track you down, hang the expense

A golden arm, a golden gun

See how it glitters in the sun
