The Pendulum

It has been reported that tiger parks in India no longer contain any tigers, but the parks still employ thousands of bureaucrats to look after the non-existent tigers.  Similarly, in the Philippines, deforestation has progressed to such a point that there are no longer any forests, yet the government employs thousands of forest managers to manage the non-existent forests. In the United States the number of kids dropping out of school increases exponentially, yet the answer is to hire more teachers. We are living now in the age of big government excess, of big government pensions and bloated government paychecks, and it will take a long time to correct this imbalance, a long time for the pendulum to swing back the other way. Yet the pendulum will inevitably swing back the other way, for this is the nature of pendulums The pendulum never stops. When it begins at the top of its arc, favoring one over another, and forces are set in motion to bring it to equilibrium, it does not stop its swing when all is equal, it continues its swing to the top of the opposite arc until the one who was most disadvantaged is now the most advantaged. And so it goes, and so it shall always go.

The pendulum’s amazing grace

Is captured in its steady pace

It swings a measured arc in time

Steadfastness at its most sublime

And yet the pendulum disturbed

Can act in many ways perturbed

Once set in motion to correct

A perceived flaw that leads direct

To acts that cause the weight to swing

In greater arcs that soon will bring

A dislocation of the way

In which affairs of man obey

The laws of nature as defined

By mankind from time out of mind

For pendulums don’t ever rest

They do what they always do best

They rest not bottom of the arc

When seen no tigers in the park

But move yet still as they will please

Despite the lack of forest trees

The pendulum is never still

It swings eternal, always will

Global Cooling

Scientists now say that the sun is entering a cooling period, predicting decades of very cold winters, cool summers and shortened growing seasons, all because of the cyclical nature of the flaming conveyor belt that carries hot plasma from the depths of the sun to the surface and back down again. So those of us who scoffed at the very notion of man made global warming have been proved correct; carbon dioxide, without which there would be no plant life and we would all die, the very substance we breathe into the atmosphere with every breath we exhale, the gas the global warmists hysterically and deliberately fraudulently claimed was a pollutant, is not to blame for the Earth’s climate. No, according to NASA, the startling discovery has now been made that the Earth’s climate is determined by the sun. Who knew?

How often have we heard it said

That we must stop it or be dead

It matters not what we must stop

It matters not, it’s just a hop

A skip and jump to ocean rise

Propelled by very subtle lies

Announced by people who will be

Enriched by saps like him and thee

Who bought the global warming scam

As folks like Gore then tried to ram

A fraudster scheme like cap and trade

Whereby their fortunes would be made

And now we’re told that it’s the sun

Not CO2 that is the one

That drives the climate of the Earth

So let me say for what it’s worth

That only fools were taken in

By all that settled science spin

From very first I shouted Bah!

I always knew ‘twas AmonRa

The City On The Hill

Europe is sliding down the long road to extinction. The rise of feminism and the birth control pill gave women the option of having children or not, and they chose not. And so, in the countries of Western Europe, the cradle of Western civilization, the birthrate has fallen below replacement level, to the point, in some countries, below recovery. In Italy and Greece, for example, there are now 100 grandparents for every 42 children. In Western Europe the family tree is upside down, and unless something changes in a measurable number of years there will be no family tree at all. Empty elementary schools now, empty playgrounds now, empty cities later. With the white European descent population of the United States not far behind. The shining city on the hill that is Western civilization is dying, and only the women can save it. But will they? Will they give up their freedom from childbirth and child rearing for the sake of a future they do not see?

The shining city on the hill

Sits empty, dark and drear

The bitter wind howls silent

Through the streets with none to hear

Yet in the darkened houses

In the vacant malls and mills

Slip the wraiths of those who walked the streets

And walked the moors and hills

And wraithlike, with beseeching wails

They wonder what befell

The world they knew, the world they loved

And knowing none could tell

For all was bright with sunshine

In the city on the hill

And none could see the coming dark

And danced and laughed until

The day came that the little ones

No longer played and sang

For inconvenient children

Were not there when school bells rang

For the women of the city

Had the pill and life was free

And they opted for the good life

And they spurned the family tree

And so now the streets are darkened

And the schools and playgrounds still

And the ghosts of those who lived there

Roam the city on the hill

Unoccupied

The violent Occupy Wall Street terrorists have trashed buildings, beaten people, burned American flags and shit on police cars, among many other acts of violence against the country and its citizens, and President Obama says there is very little difference between the Occupy movement and the Tea Party. Obama says this because the Occupy thugs operate at his command, just as the SA in Germany committed violence  by Hitler’s command and the Red Guards in China committed massive violence by Mao’s command.  You remember that Obama, shortly after inauguration, promised to put at his disposal an armed civilian corps, don’t you? Hitler murdered the SA when they proved inconvenient, and Mao murdered the Red Guards when they no longer served his purpose. What is the difference between the SA, the Red Guards and Obama’s armed civilian corps?  Only the manner of their deaths.

Yes it would seem

That guys like Roehm

Just never see it coming

And the Red Guards

Thought they were pards

With Mao to keep things humming

And so with those

Obama chose

To occupy the masses

With burning flags

And hurling bags

Of crap on upper classes

Oh yes the time

Will come when I’m

Afraid their days are over

As Obie Wan

Disbands the con

And sends them all to clover

Assad Sad Day

Trouble in the Middle East and Middle East North Africa.  Assad is on his way out, Jordan is trying to act as a fixer between Hamas and Fatah, Hamas is ditching Assad and Syria for a bigger and richer lover, Turkey, and the Sunnis and the Shi’as are at daggers drawn, as usual for the past thousand and more years. Yawn.

It’s Assad sad day in the Middle East

You’d think that things would at the very least

Be somewhat friendly what with common foes

That’s how the MENA goes

The Sunni Shia are at daggers drawn

Hamas and Fatah swear they’ll meet at dawn

And everybody wants Israelis dead

But harder done than said

A thousand years they’re here what do we find

A thousand years they’re here and still behind

No art no science not a thing to show

It’s time for them to go

Electric Cars

The Obama administration, in its zeal to destroy the economy of the United States and save the planet by going green, has pushed electric cars among many of its costly follies. After forcing the automobile industry into bankruptcy and giving the companies to their friends in the United Auto Workers Union, the Obama administration is now trying to sell the American public on the virtues of the Chevy Volt, whose batteries inconveniently catch fire. I have no doubt that lagging sales will lead the Obama administration to ban the internal combustion engine. Electric cars may one day be all the rage, but right now there is nothing wrong with an electric car that an internal combustion engine won’t fix.

The problem with electric cars

Is that they’re all from DC

Where Washington has put in czars

Who don’t know ass from AC

Electric cars date from before

And disappeared because they

Were slow in getting to the shore

And bottled up the causeway

The steamer now that was the cheese

Some water and it’s loaded

With pressure up it sure did please

Until the thing exploded

Then cars were run on gasoline

Performance was upgraded

To speeds not heretofore been seen

And drivers were elated

But now the government insists

That we go all electric

With driving range, with some assists

To calculate in metric

For freedom lost will not return

They’re banning incandescents

And ‘cause there’ll be no gas to burn

They’ll ban anti-depressants

And force us all to drive with smiles

At thirty miles an hour

And travel only fifty miles

Before we’re out of power

The Kindness Of Strangers

Dark stories are now emerging from Libya, where we, out of the generosity of our liberal idealism, disposed of a dictator by arming the rebels and bombing the dictator’s capital and armed forces into submission. The dictator was killed and the so-called democratic rebels took over. Well, it now emerges that the torture centers once run by the dictator are now being run by the rebels. The prisons once filled with people opposed to the dictator are now being filled with people opposed to the rebels. One more Arab Spring revealed by reality to be an Arab Winter. But even torturers can be kind, after a fashion.

Kindness is a dark illusion

Meant to ease the knowing fear

Meant to calm those in confusion

To believe that death’s not near

Sun-lit rooms with fragrant flowers

Smiling faces bidding well

Questions that go on for hours

Then returned to darkened cell

Where the guilty and the blameless

Shiver as the footsteps near

Knowing that they now are nameless

Crying cries that none can hear

Beaten, tortured, long forgotten

Waiting only for the sound

Of the jailor, for his lot in

Life is to be never found

Yet kindness comes in many guises

A smiling face says it is done

The torture’s ended, no surprises

The paper signed, and he has won

No more the cell, no more the beatings

No more the cries, the misery

This is the last of many meetings

A bullet now and you are free

O Time In Thy Flyte

Our national media are wont to scream headlines at us that turn out to be, shall we say, a bit hysterical? In 1977, for instance, Time magazine ran a screaming cover and hysterical inside stories about the coming Ice Age, and how huge numbers of us would die and so forth, and just thirty or so years later ran a screaming cover and hysterical inside stories about the coming catastrophe of Global Warming, where the oceans were about to boil and we would all die of asphyxiation from a super heated carbon dioxide atmosphere. Of the two, I would prefer the Ice Age. We could always burn copies of Time magazine to keep warm.

O Time in thy flyte

How often not right

How often thy headlines doth scream

But alack and alas

They do not come to pass

And events are not all as they seem

To thine editors all

And thine writers who scrawl

Of the horrors to come such as these

You would think they’d descry

The few copies we buy

Means their cup is now down to the lees

Stealing Money

The Obama administration has thrown almost a trillion dollars down the green energy rat hole with nothing to show for it but a cascade of bankruptcies, with the money gone with a shrug of leftist shoulders. Lefties don’t care how they spend the taxpayers’ money, just so long as they, the Lefties, feel good about themselves for trying to save the planet. But where did all that money go? I spoke to a very successful man recently, and he was happy to tell me where at least some of that stolen money went.

I own a solar plant, he said

We run all year deep in the red

But still we make a profit huge

That keeps my girls in pearls and rouge

The governmental subsidies

Make sure the economic breeze

Blows only warm sweet air our way

And no one’s hurt, taxpayers pay

I tell you this here climate hoax

Has got to be one of those jokes

That has them rolling in the aisles

In industries that make their piles

From green jobs that just make no sense

And notice I make no pretense

Of claiming that my work is real

Like drilling oil or making steel

But this is where the action’s hot

And green will rule it, like as not

For months to come if not for years

Because by spreading needless fears

The money comes a-rolling in

To topple like a bowling pin

All criticism skeptics lie

At all our feet, why do they try?

So yes I’m happy all the time

‘Cause stealing money is no crime

Our Own Cincinnatus

The country is in dire peril, from rapidly climbing ruinous debt that will beggar us all, to a left wing agenda foisted upon us by the lefty politicians, media and academia that will lead to socialist stagnation and death. The country needs a Cincinnatus, a man who will put down his plow and come to Washington to save the country. But who? Do we have a Cincinnatus waiting in the wings, waiting for the call? I dunno.

He put down his plow, forsaked he the toil

As perilous times Rome befell

And duty fair done he returned to the soil

To the farm that he loved oh so well

Perilous times are now with us today

Our walls under siege every side

By those who’d destroy us and lead us astray

From Washington where they reside

Our own Cincinnatus is now what we need

A fighter who won’t stand there mute

As lefty agendas so quickly proceed

A Shane-like gunslinger like Newt

Or maybe a Romney, his eyes cool and clear

A Cooper who waits for high noon

And walks down the street as the danger draws near

We need him, and we need him soon

Obama must go, but not easy the task

And that’s why a man made of steel

Is needed to clean it up, and all that we ask

Is that Lefties are ground ‘neath his heel
