And The Temples Of His Gods

Horatius, by Thomas Babington, Lord Macaulay

The following is a snippet from the great classic.

Then out spake brave Horatius

The Captain of the Gate:

“To every man upon this Earth

Death cometh soon or late.

And how can man die better

Than facing fearful odds,

For the ashes of his fathers

And the temples of his gods.”

Schoolboys have been reading of brave Horatius at the bridge for over two thousand years. Why has this long ago tale of a Roman soldier holding off the Etruscan host so compelling? I believe it is because it is a tale of honor, of bravery, of a warrior’s determination to fight for his country, his culture, his religion, his wife and children, to the death if need be. We are facing such a challenge today in militant Islam, on the rise once more, at war to the death with the once Christian west, a thousand year war that did not end at the gates of Vienna or at Lepanto. Do we have such a man, a Horatius, to stand at the bridge and deny the Muslims their victory over us, a victory that would reduce us to slaves? Will we see Muslim savagery for what it is, or will we insist Islam is a religion of peace, despite all evidence to the contrary? Will we stand and fight before a city dies from a Muslim nuke? Multiculturalism and political correctness have nearly destroyed the will of the West to resist, but resist we must, or we will surely lose all, including the ashes of our fathers and the temples of our gods.

For the ashes of his fathers

And the temples of his gods

Brave men will fight the fiercest foe

Despite the gravest odds

Today the foe amidst us

Walks upright and in the light

He fears naught but his holy book

That tells him he is right

To kill the infidel at hand

By any means possessed

He smiles the smile of conquest while

His victims are obsessed

With mortal things and mortal thoughts

Of living the good life

Avoiding confrontation and

Avoiding parlous strife

But come the day the masks fall off

Of Islam’s murderous face

And by its acts of savagery

Ignites the Christian race

Then only then will Christian men

Unite to stem the tide

And Islam’s terror gangsters will

Then have no place to hide

A burnt out western city will

Return a thousand fold

And western man the warrior

Will hark back to days of old

And will savage the black Muslims

Put them all beneath the sod

With the ashes of their fathers

And the temples of their god

Abe, George, What Would You Do?

The president has yet to decide whether to continue the war in Afghanistan to its finish, or to bug out, or to take the third route, a slow decline into inevitable defeat. Such are the burdens of the lonely man in the Oval Office. Late at night, in the Hall of the Presidents, Obama paces fitfully, begging the portraits to understand.

I will not be rushed

Though my name be crushed

‘Neath the right wing idiot mass

For I know I’m right

Least in Allah’s sight

So on Afghan plans I’ll pass

As deciders go

I may seem quite slow

But I get there in the end

I will delegate

So that I can skate

Up the hill and round the bend

It’s a lonely job

And it does play hob

With my presidential mien

For my health care plan

Meant for every man

Is departing from the scene

There is much to do

And the days are few

And the nights are long and cold

And I must decide

If I run or hide

To do neither would be bold

So I take me hence

To the passive tense

While our soldiers fight and die

Waiting for my writ

While I think and sit

Is it me or is it I

Jumping To Conclusions

The first thing out of the mouth of President Obama when he heard of the massacre of unarmed soldiers by a screaming Muslim was that we should not jump to conclusions about the motives of the shooter. No indeed. We must not think that just because Major Hasan called himself a soldier of Allah that he actually was one. People fantasize, you know, without ever carrying out their fantasies. No, as the mainstream media was quick to point out, without ever telling the viewing public that Major Hasan was a Muslim, there did not appear to be a motive for the murders. President Obama, in his speech at Fort Hood, said the attack was incomprehensible. Incomprehensible to some, maybe, but not for those of us not crippled by the insane blindness of political correctness.

When you jump to a conclusion

It can lead to much confusion

And that is something we don’t want to see

Just because a man is saying

That to Allah he is praying

Doesn’t mean he’s not the same as you and me

Just because he calls Al Qaeda

Doesn’t mean that he would hide a

Gun beneath his coat and shoot a man or two

And though many heard him crying

There are Muslim babies dying

And he blamed the deaths of all on me and you

Take the mosque that he attended

He would surely be offended

If we thought what he was told there was insane

Even though his Imam praised the

Men who gave their lives and razed the

Buildings in New York by Boeing aeroplane

And of course then we must never

Think a Muslim man could sever

Heads of innocents and those who mean no harm

For he is a man most peaceful

Who insists that we must cease all

Taking acts and words of Muslims with alarm

We must never think that single

Muslim men with whom we mingle

Are reflections of their countrymen at large

No the peaceful Muslim masses

Want to kill our Yankee asses

And put their crazy Imams all in charge

We should not jump to conclusion

That they’re playing with nuke fusion

For the purpose of destroying us this time

We must honor that their version

Of the truth is that the Persian

Rule of all us infidels will be sublime

Obama Girl

During the presidential election campaign of 2008, young white women fell in love with Barack Obama, the cool, the hip, the strong, beautiful black man they lusted for in their dreams. Obama Girl was one of these, gaining momentary fame with her YouTube songs in praise of Barack the Savior. Obama Girl and her sisters got their wish, they got their dream. Unfortunately, their dream has turned out to be a nightmare for the rest of us.

What have you done, Obama Girl?

You’ve put the country in great peril

You’ve put in place a president who seems

To think that dressing up like Mao

And giving emperors a bow

Is just the kind of prez who meets your dreams

But is this what you had in mind

When you and others of your kind

Went to the polls and voted in Barack

Who smiled and said it would be neat

If he had Oval Office seat

And country’s sins forgiven ‘cause he’s black

He’s tripled up the national debt

He’s vowed that Fox News he would get

He’s from Chicago, he means what he says

He has a long name enemies list

With very few that he has missed

You just can’t disagree with this here prez

He wants to gut our good health care

And put in place one that is fair

A health care plan that’s run by union goons

The same fine group of gals and guys

Who work for Acorn, no surprise

Who’ll make you wait for treatment many moons

The unemployment rate is up

The country drinks from bitter cup

The dollar shrinks and China says no way

That we continue buying bonds

With interest paid with magic wands

From now on when we ship you stuff you pay

With all this going on, dear girl

The man you loved is on a whirl

Wind tour of places he can bow and scrape

To kings and emperors alike

And as Iran prepares to strike

He thinks by doing nothing we’ll escape

What have you done, Obama Girl?

You’ve placed the country in great peril

You’ve put in place a president who seems

To want the country on its ear

And what is more, we greatly fear

There’s more to come than in our blackest dreams

A Dangerous Precedent, A Dangerous President

We all remember the pictures of President Obama bowing low and lovingly to the Saudi king, and now we have another picture of President Obama bowing obsequiously to the Japanese emperor Akihito. Next on the itinerary is China, and one wonders how low our president will bow to the portrait of Mao. Will he bow to the president of China? Stay tuned. But the question is not how low will President Obama bow to foreign potentates, nor how often and how sorrowfully he will apologize to the world for the evil done by the United States, but how did we ever elect such a man to the office he now besmirches and demeans.

There was a time, though not of late

That US presidents

Would shake the hands of heads of state

But now the precedent’s

To bow and scrape in humbled awe

Before the Saudi king

And just today as we all saw

Kiss Akihito’s ring

Our president thinks we’re beneath

The kings and queens he sees

So to them honor he’ll bequeath

By sinking to his knees

Apologizing for our sins

And mercenary ways

And seeing that the bad guy wins

And Uncle Sammy pays

How did it ever come to this

That we elect, alas

A man who loves to give a kiss

To every kingly ass

In Congress Assembled

Congressman Barney Frank, D-Massachusetts, chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, the committee that writes the tax laws for the rest of us, is under investigation for not paying his taxes. Senator Chris Dodd, D-Connecticut, Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee, is under investigation for accepting sweetheart mortgage deals from Countrywide Financial, an institution with a vested interest in what the Senate Banking Committee does. These people entered politics to do good, and they have done well. Like the rest of the liberal elites, they believe the laws were not meant for them, but for us.

Barney Frank huffs and Barney Frank puffs

But mainly he puffs when he huffs

It’s plain as can be

A man’s man is he

It’s time he was fitted for cuffs

To think it odd

That Christopher Dodd

Would act nice for his cronies

Is more than queer

It’s insincere

To question his cajones

The man won’t care

That others share

A view of him unflattering

His clout he lends

To help his friends

Escape financial battering

And in return

Chris Dodd will earn

The thanks of all his crony band

Along with cash

And the weekend bash

In his cottage in Ould Ireland

The Fizz Is Gone

Neither Ahmadinejad nor Bibi Netanyahu pay the slightest attention to the President of the United States, demand or cajole as he will.  The North Koreans continue to detonate nukes and test missiles, the Iranians continue to build nukes, test missiles and threaten to destroy Israel, and Israel refuses to commit national suicide when asked nicely by President Obama to do so, even though the President continues to promise Bibi the famous Obama smile would be enough to deflect incoming. Verse-afire has recently come into possession of a private letter Ahmadinejad sent to President Obama, the text of which follows.

What’s that you say, you wish we’d stop?

Whatever do you mean?

You used to be the biggest cop

But now you’re truly seen

For what you are, a toothless boy

Come begging for to please

Your cringing manner brings us joy

And puts us at our ease

We’ve told you many times before

Our nukes are not for hold

We’ll go ahead and build our store

If we may be so bold

We know you try to do your best

To look so rough and tough

But we know you won’t pass the test

Big smiles just ain’t enough

But Bibi now’s, a different guy

He’s told you where to go

He knows what’s up, he isn’t shy

He’s gonna strike a blow

But we think we are ready for

Whatever Bibi does

We think that we can win this war

In partly just becuz

We know whose side that you are on

We know just where you stand

We know that you are no Sharon

We know you’ll lend no hand

To either side, that’s who you is

You’re just above all that

Where once US made soda fizz

Today the soda’s flat

My Fellow Americans

President Obama’s address at Fort Hood was a thesaurus short of being Reaganesque, but that didn’t stop slobbering liberals from waxing ecstatic, likening the address to the few words given at Gettysburg, and with leg-tingling certainty proclaiming the Obama speech would be taught in university rhetoric classes a hundred years hence. They would have gone into an ecstatic catatonic trance had they heard President Obama’s little known address to the Council on American Islamic Relations regarding the unfortunate events at Fort Hood. Translation from the Arabic by Google, video by YouTube.

My fellow Americans

He said with a frown

A tragedy occurred

But don’t let us get down

With spirits uplifted

We’ll march as before

United as people

Together once more

But before I begin

There are things I must say

About the fine man

We here honor today

A man filled with peace

Who was pushed to the brink

By the actions of those

Who would not stop to think

How oppressive we are

How oppressive we’ve been

How afflicted we are

With original sin

It’s clearly our fault

That this fine man just snapped

And in reddest rage

Fellow soldiers he zapped

He’s shown us the worst

That our country can be

He’s shown us the best

Of a country that’s free

We honor a man

Who put Islam above

A country he honored

With undying love

In closing I’ll say

We condone not his act

But justified fully

And that is a fact

Everlasting Night

The United States, and most of the western world, no longer makes things. Our everyday necessities, shoes, clothing, hammers, computers, are now made in other countries. The United States is now almost entirely a service economy, insurance, bond trading, tourism, real estate, retail, and so forth, none of which actually produces a product, a “thing”, like a hat or a bicycle. The entire service economy succeeds only so long as the people who make the “things” perceive that what we give them in return, paper promissory notes, are worth something. But what happens when our promises are no longer accepted? What happens when the service economy slows and comes to a halt because the people who make the “things” we need to survive no longer load the container ships and send the “things” to us? At that point we will have to start manufacturing things again, and rebuilding a manufacturing economy will be a whole lot harder than it was tearing it down. And how will those of us in a declining service economy restore our industry? By a Deus Ex Machina? Or is that machinery gone forever as well?

He looked just like you would expect

An empty man to look

A man self-lacking in respect

A case right from the book

He settled wearily on the couch

He sighed and closed his eyes

Said, Doctor I no longer vouch

For what I know are lies

What do you mean? I murmured low

He sighed again and said,

I don’t know why it’s gotten so

The world I trust is dead

You see I once believed in all

The government would say

The TV news now has the gall

To claim that just today

They found that things that we once made

Are made in China now

The Chinese put us in the shade

They’ve stolen our know-how

We do not make the little things

Like hammers, hats and shoes

Or screws and nails and front porch swings

The stuff that folks all use

They claim that we’re in service here

In good old USA

And what is more, this much is clear

We’ve traded jobs that pay

Enough so that a factory hand

Can have a wife and kids

He knows he can support them and

His job won’t hit the skids

I never thought about it much

But doctor, now I see

That service jobs and others such

As those are never free

And have you lost your job I asked

He paused to catch his breath

I did, he said, and now I’m tasked

To bring about the death

Of all the lands that once employed

Its workers making things

I’m tasked to see that they’re destroyed

From commoners to kings

He left me then and shuffled out

I thought him odd but sane

And as I chanced to look about

I glanced out in the rain

And saw the lights go slowly dim

And streetcars to a crawl

I knew at once because of him

For on my desk a scrawl

“When men deny the grace of work

They cannot see the light”

And as I watched by some strange quirk

Came everlasting night

The Children’s Crusade

Peggy Noonan describes the current Obama administration and the current national political scene as a disaster for the country, and sees clearly that the problem is that our leaders are, in her words, “callous children”, children of privilege, children who have never witnessed or felt the dark side of life, and who have no idea how to fix the problems we now have. The Children’s Crusade that culminated in the election of an unknown, unprepared, and supremely unqualified Barack Obama to the presidency, is now running the country over a cliff. Peggy Noonan joined the Obama Children’s Crusade and followed the Pied Piper, reveling in His promises for a better world, a world in which there were no enemies, only friends we have not yet kissed and fondled.

Come children, my children, let’s go on Crusade

To make the world better by far

Than it’s been these past years of Bush’s charade

Come follow the Obama star

Yes that was the cry back in twenty oh eight

A long time ago now it seems

A time so long past only history can state

They found that those long vanished dreams

Have long turned to dust and to memories gone

The Crusade a horrible joke

They went to sleep happy but coming of dawn

Showed the world was not quite yet ein volk

The children soon saw that the Crusade they’d found

And followed Messiah to Rome

And boarded the ships that were Holy Land bound

Soon found they would never come home

So now they write columns and ring dainty hands

Exclaiming how misunderstood

They now are for joining the Crusader bands

Determined to do the world good

And how all their dreams for Obama have crashed

Collapsing like dust in the wind

Their dreams for a better world ravaged and dashed

Forgive me dear Lord for I’ve sinned
