Perception And Reality

Maureen Dowd, in the New York Times, wrote that the oil spill in the Gulf was a disaster…for President Obama. The oil spill had no reality for her beyond its effect on the president and the Democratic party. Dead birds, dead fish, polluted wetlands, out of work fishermen, an economic disaster for the people living along the shore – none of that was reality for Maureen Dowd or for many others of the leftist chattering class. They are so wrapped into the cocktail party lives they lead they cannot comprehend that there are real people affected by real events. To the Maureen Dowd’s of this world there is no reality, only perception.

What is this thing reality?

The young man smiled and said

To me it’s what is like as not

To get me killed real dead

Ah no, said yet another man

What’s false and what is real

Is that which fits the narrative

Of how I ought to feel

You both are wrong, the woman said

For nothing’s really real

And truth is false and false is true

As narratives congeal

An older man, a passerby

Cried out then, quite aloud

Reality is opposite

What’s said by Maureen Dowd

The Ideologue

President Obama has famously declared that he is not an ideologue. Of course he would say that, of course he would honestly believe that. He honestly believes he is not an ideologue, for to the left, the only ideologues are on the right. To a leftist, whatever he believes is truth with a capital T, and so cannot be partisan ideology by definition. The left believes with all its heart that the world would be a far, far better place if we would all just stop resisting and let them run things. It doesn’t matter to people like Barack Obama that wherever and whenever the Left has come to power there follows, as inevitably the morning follows night, murder and misery on a vast scale. Stalin murdered sixty million of his own people, Hitler murdered tens of millions of others, Pol Pot murdered one third of the people of Cambodia, Mao Tse Tung murdered a hundred million Chinese, and none of it matters because, to the Left, it was all done in a good cause.

You can’t be an ideologue

If you are of the Left

It’s only right wing maniacs

Of horns and hooven cleft

Who scream with spittle drooling down

And stomp upon the stage

Glennbecklike in their bulging eyes

Just filled with rurious fage

We lefties on the other hand

With calm collected mien

Have problems not with what we do

When we come on the scene

We hack right off the little arms

Of vaccinated kids

With ovens and gas chambers for

Those gross sub-human yids

We won’t allow to drill for oil

On land, so far at sea

A blown out well cannot be capped

You can’t blame that on me

We don’t believe in self defense

We think force is a crime

We don’t believe the sun heats Earth

It’s us who move the clime

We don’t believe that folks should work

For home and daily bread

Much better that they look to us

The government, instead

I could go on, the list is long

Of right wing wrong and sin

But why, there is no point to such

They’re out and we are in

The Shakes Of Araby

The London Times Online is reporting the Saudis have gotten the shakes about the Iranian bomb, and have given permission to the Israelis to use Saudi Arabian airspace to fly to Iran whenever the Israelis think it appropriate to teach the uppity Persians a lesson. This means the Israelis will not have to ask Obama’s permission to fly over Iraq, a sovereign country, for they know Obama will order the US Air Force to shoot down any dirty Jew who dares to bomb his friends the Iranian terrorists. For the Saudis, this is a no-brainer. It is difficult for us, living in what we think of as a secular age, to believe people of differing religions cannot all get along, but such is the case. The Saudis are Sunni Muslim, and the Iranians are Shi’ite Muslims, and they do not particularly like each other. The Saudis, and all the Sunni Arab states, know that if the Shi’ite Persians get the bomb, the Persian Shi’ites rule the Middle East, which up to now has been a Sunni province. And since the Israelis are the only ones capable of stopping the Persians from getting nuclear weapons, the Saudis are perfectly willing to let the Israelis take care of it for them. Obama or no, Israel will strike when the Mossad says it’s time to go.

The Saudis say

That on the day

Israelis strike Iran

They might say hey

Or by the way

But never warn Teheran

The Saudis know

That when winds blow

From Persia to the west

It’s time to show

The Persian foe

Israeli planes are best

The Saudis think

That if they blink

A Persian nuke will land

And thereby sink

The Saudi kink

And all his merry band

So they’re content

To sit their tent

And watch Israelis fly

With their consent

To kill the gent

Who said the Jews must die

A Comic Book World

We live in a comic book political world, one most of us don’t like when looking at what the country will become if the radical left succeeds in imposing its agenda. The current Administration is determined to reward those who put it in power, and punish those with whom they disagree. Already we see the country changing. The Federal Government has taken over General Motors and given it to the unions, the finest health care system the world has ever seen is now going to be run by bureaucrats in DC, and I have no doubt the Administration will rescue the NY Times and other papers from bankruptcy with taxpayers’ money, rewarding the President’s admiring legions of hero worshipping journalists. But we have our own heroes. We are not alone. We can stop this headlong rush to this government run and government owned left wing utopian paradise. We can stop it because our heroes are with us. The left seems determined to turn the country into a left wing comic book world, but they forget the comic book heroes are on our side.

Boys have heroes, we all did

Cowboys, pirates, Captain Kidd

Heroes teach you to be strong

Don’t sell short, always go long

Don’t see clouds, see sunny days

Just think of all the many ways

Our childhood prepped us to be tasked

For things we answer to when asked

I know there’s times we all despair

When we all think, does no one care?

But someone does, that someone’s you

You care because your heroes true

Are with you now, and always will

Be with you till your breath is still

Be not afraid, they smile and say

Be Captain Midnight for a day

So what if you can’t save the world

Or charge the foe with flags unfurled

If we but look we’ll reckon us

A force when heroes beckon us

To save our country from the left

Who plan to leave our kids bereft

Of everything that we hold dear

Instill in them the things we fear

Captain Marvel we don’t need

Or e’en the Flash with all his speed

We’ll do this job because we can

United we ARE Superman

If You Can’t Beat ‘Em, Tax ‘Em

About a year ago a meeting was held in Washington at which representatives of the leading American newspapers lamented they did not know where the industry was going, beyond going down. The Democrats, seeing a demise of their handmaidens, attempted just this past month to save the mainstream newspapers, by taxing the electronic media. On May 24th of this year the Federal Trade Commission floated a trial balloon working paper designed to re-invent the media by taxing blogs like the Drudge Report and giving the proceeds to the New York Times and Washington Post. This did not even go over well with the Democratic Congress. Never fear though. Big Brother never sleeps. He will be back.

Can you tell me where we’re going

Said inventor to the scribe

The scribe had not the knowing

But he thought the scribbler tribe

Had naught to fear from printing

Though he wished to make it clear

That while Gutenberg was hinting

That the death of scribes was near

It was time, he felt, that reason

Should prevail in such a case

And that printing, while in season

Would not scribblers jobs erase

Can you tell me where we’re going

Said the journalist to the blog

The blog had not the knowing

But it knew ‘twas just a cog

In a world wide web of knowledge

That is there in one big store

So a journalism college

Isn’t needed any more

And the Gutenberg invention

That put papers on the lawn

Faces daily intervention

And will soon in time be gone

Now what happens to the readers

All the kiddies, dads and mammys

Why they’ll simply have new leaders

Guys in bathrobes and pajammys

The politicos will try to

Save the NYT and others

As they slip beneath the bayou

Joining other extinct brothers

Darwin Man

Darwin explained evolution in terms of the survival of the fittest. The threat from radical Islam will test Darwin’s theory, as it will test the men of the West. At the moment it does not look all that good for the West, where the political class assumes it has no right to defend itself. Time will tell if we of the West are fit enough to survive as a free people. If we do not resist the murderous onslaught of Islam then we will be subsumed into the Islamic world as second class citizens with no rights in our own countries. That, of course, is the most benign scenario. The likeliest scenario is that surrender will lead to enslavement, a practice that Islam has always imposed on its vanquished enemy.

Darwin says that men and apes

Are cousins after all

With silverbacked and silver haired

Old men who can’t recall

The days of yore when they were young

And pretty as you please

They swung all night and then by day

They slept high in the trees

Those days are gone for Darwin man

Today he lacks the strength

To fight for what is his by right

And so, in time, at length

A stronger horse will come one day

And take the weak ape’s tree

The bell does toll for apes and men

And yes it tolls for thee

The Judge

Joran van der Sloot has been arrested in Peru for the murder of a young Peruvian woman. This is the same van der Sloot who murdered a young American woman named Natalee Holloway a few years ago and got away with it, thanks to his father, a Judge in the Aruban legal system, who helped him dispose of the body and then covered up the crime. The father is thus just as responsible for the murder of the Peruvian woman as the son, though the father is now beyond the law, having died himself not so long ago. Nonetheless, dead or alive, the Judge is an accomplice to murder.

He killed the girl then got his dad

A judge, officer of the court

They buried her, then denied all

A pretty girl, fini, dead, mort

The judge cared not at all his son

Had murdered and kept freedom still

The judge complicit in one death

Now dead but present in the latest kill

How many others lie alone

In graves the son and father made

How many girls succumbed to charms

How many girls the death price paid

And now he’s caught, perhaps we’ll know

Despite for all the question’s moot

How many girls died at the hands

Of son and father van der Sloot

The Lady And The Dutchman

Joran van der Sloot, the murderer of Natalee Halladay, the eighteen year old American woman who went to Aruba on vacation and disappeared, has been arrested and has confessed to the murder of another young woman in  Peru. He told the Peruvian police he didn’t want to kill her, but he had left the hotel room for coffee and when he came back into the room she was looking at his laptop computer, and so she had to die. No remorse, just a dry recitation of events in which he, of course, is the victim of the murdered woman’s curiosity. If she had not opened his computer she would be alive today, so it wasn’t his fault. Let us hope the Peruvians have a length of rope handy.

When does a man know his future is clear

When he no longer believes that his lies are the truth

When he’s questioned by cops in a tight little booth

When the crimes he commits are not sins of his youth

Then he knows retribution is near

It is then that he looks to his innermost soul

And he sees there is darkness and nothing is whole

And the gallows is now his penultimate goal

And his only emotion is fear

When the world that he knew is but crumbled to dust

And the shackles and cuffs say the law is still just

And the penalty’s death for the murderous lust

And the hangman’s adjusting his gear

The Glorious Fourth Of June

The mainstream media has allowed the fourth of June to pass without comment on the incredible events of June 4, 1942. Shortly after those events John Ford, the famous Hollywood director, created a film honoring the gallant sacrifice of Torpedo Squadron 8 (VT-8) at the Battle of Midway, June 4, 1942. The film was never shown publicly. He gave it to the families of the men who gave their lives that morning north of Hawaii, gave their lives knowing they had little chance, in their obsolete Devastators, to survive a torpedo attack on the Japanese carriers. Yet they did attack, and were shot down and killed, all save a young ensign named George Gay, who survived to witness the arrival of the dive bombers just minutes after Torpedo Squadron 8, by their gallant attack, had drawn the Japanese fighter planes down to wave top level, leaving the sky clear for the Dauntless dive bombers to come in and sink all four Japanese carriers.

The men of VT-8 knew well

Their planes were obsolete

They knew that they stood little chance

To strike Nagumo’s fleet

But still they lumbered down the deck

That sparkling summer morn

And flew their Devastators true

And thus are heroes born

Their sacrifice was not in vain

For soon and very soon

The Dauntlesses made history on

That Glorious Fourth Of June

Some say that men like that belong

To ages gone and past

But no, such men will heed the call

However long we last

Should freedom last a thousand years

They’ll hear the fifer’s tune

And drummer boys will swell with pride

On the Glorious Fourth of June

Micro Drones

We are all familiar with the large drones the CIA is operating, Global Hawk, Predator, that deliver death to our enemies from the unseen sky. Well, things are moving along the technological line that sees everything get smaller and better. The United States military is working on drones that are so small they fit in the palm of the hand, can enter buildings, and with their microsensors let us know what is going on behind closed doors. That, of course, is not the end. Drones will get smaller still, to microscopic size, the better to get under the skin of our enemies.

The four star General rubbed his chin

His stubbled whiskers rasped

So tiny was the little craft

It’s size could not be grasped

The lab technician smiled and said

We’ve reached the final stage

A drone this small will make you smile

And soon be all the rage

A micron wide, a micron long

A micron deep as well

Designed to torment and to drive

Our enemies to hell

Our enemies are everywhere

The General sadly said

The New York Times and NBC

They want the US dead

That’s what this little baby does

Said lab tech with a grin

We’re able now to do the worst

Get under liberals’ skin
